Welcome Home

Ever eat in that restaurant that feels like home away from home?  I recently went to a restaurant in San Diego that I had only been to once before, Currant an American Brasserie.  When I first walked in and stood at the host stand the server came up, and say Hi, as if he remembered me from my last visit almost 9 months before.  I said, "do you know me."  He replied, "nope, but we are happy to see you."  How lovely!

Then I sat down, ordered a wine (shocking I know) and asked if it would be on the happy hour price, as there were 4 minutes left in happy hour.  He said yes.  When he came back with the wine he very sadly said, I'm sorry but the happy hour price only applies to house wine (not the expensive wine I had chosen).  I said no problem, it just meant I would only have one glass in stead of two (again, shocking).

I ordered, we chatted, I read, my food came, and as I was sipping my last bit of wine he came by with a second glass.  I was surprised.  He said, "we wouldn't want you to not have wine with your food, now would we?"

Normally, the places that make you feel welcome are the places you have been to many times before... this place made me feel welcome, and I had only been there once before.  But you know what, I will go back again and again and again, and encourage all of you to as well.  Here are some pictures of the restaurant:
